Despite our intense academic focus, tired mornings at King's aren't just a result of late nights deep in one of the Great Books. The College is committed to blending the intellectual and social and so the King's experience continues long after your last class or tutorial.
The various academic programmes regularly host evening lectures and seminars, events that complement current students' curriculum, as well as encourage alumni—and the general public—to engage in fascinating and often timely topics. Lectures are frequently paired with receptions on campus, tradition-rich get-togethers that are lubricated with sips of wine (or sherry), nibbles of cheese and conversations with your peers and professors alike.
The King's Theatrical Society keeps the Pit alive over the academic year, presenting an ample season of productions that place our talented students—from actors to producers to directors—centre stage. Students also pour their fair share of life into the Wardroom, our campus bar, with everything from Microbrewery Mondays to Retro Nights to Sunday evening Study Snacks.
In residence, the longstanding tradition of Bay Parties is still going strong, and another event with history, Formal Meal, brings current students together in Prince Hall every month for a meal enriched with Latin graces, academic gowns and special guests.

As a tradition-rich community that loves to come together, we can't help but load up our calendars with big affairs. Fittingly, one of the most anticipated is Big Night, an annual showcase of campus talent that has students, faculty and staff in the spotlight. The social to-do of the year is the Young Alexandra Society Ball, when all of King's decks out in their finest for a swanky evening of drinks and dancing.
The annual Dante Party takes over one of the Bays, transforming each floor into the hell, purgatory and paradise of his Divine Comedy, and Halloween brings a traditional screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Alumni Hall. The Wardroom plays host, too: the College's PRIDE society puts on the yearly King's Drag Pageant, and Maritime Night drowns the campus bar in a hefty dose of plaid.

Loaded up with as much history as the rest of the campus, the Wardroom is home to the day-student lounge by day, the on-campus bar by night and, somewhere in between, it's home to the making of friendships, ideas and lots (and lots) of music. More>>
With your bed, dining table, classroom, favourite bar, library and friends all housed within the four walls of the Quad, you may see no reason to leave. But remember King's College occupies only a tiny corner of the beautiful city of Halifax, a community that is perhaps just as warm as ours. Farmers' Markets, cozy coffee shops, endless pubs, busy streets (and quiet nooks) and breezy waterfront await you—all just a quick walk, bike or bus ride away. More >>
For those not planning on living in residence at King's College, our neighbour and partner Dalhousie University has put together a Living Off Campus website. The site is equipped with a listing service for locating rental properties and roommates quickly online, as well as provides resources, information and news bulletins for new Haligonians. More >>
