While a premedical degree is most often an intensive bachelor of sciences programme, King's has a lot to offer to premed students and nearly all of our programmes are open to science students.
The humanities at King's are fascinating. Students looking to gain more from their degree than a technical certification are often attracted to the opportunity to explore human thoughts and civilization in high calibre courses while pursuing a full science degree.
The arts may not teach you how cells reproduce, but they do teach you how to analyze and articulate difficult positions. The arts at King's put an emphasis on analytical reasoning and critical thinking, a training that provides science students recourse when facing difficult problems and answers cannot be found in a textbook.
The advanced programmes in the Faculty of Science at Dalhousie, open to all King's students after the Foundation Year Programme or a standard science first year, gives students access to world-class faculty and equipment. The size and scope of the faculty means that students can take courses needed to excel in any specialization.
In conjunction with the acclaimed science training at Dalhousie, all three combined honours programmes at King's have produced successful medical students. They allow premed students to benefit from a broad arts training, while still focusing on their science degree.
The Dalhousie medical school teaches scientific excellence and humanity in medicine and trains doctors to be accomplished clinicians and compassionate caregivers. More >>
