September 1, 2010 - September 6, 2010
Hurricane Earl is quickly moving up the Eastern Seaboard and is expected to affect Nova Scotia on our Move-In Day, Saturday, September 4th. The potential severity of the storm is as yet unclear; however, it may be significant. This will likely complicate travel plans for many students and their families intending to move-in to residence that day.
Because of the weather, both Saturday and Sunday will be treated as move-in days. Thus, on both days students should plan to arrive early to settle-in. On both days, lunch will be available at 12 noon, after which an orientation for parents and friends will be held at 1 p.m. with the President, the Dean of Residence and other student services.
Representatives from Student Accounts, the Registrar's Office, and other student services will be available on Saturday, weather permitting. These offices will be open for normal business at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 3 and Tuesday, September 7. Students will be able to join the regular schedule of Orientation Week Activities on both days following the initial sessions.
As usual, students are permitted to drop their belongings off early to residence, and are asked to contact the residence office (902) 422-1271 ext 215) to determine what arrangements can be made.
Students are not permitted early move-in, as preparations are still being made to the residence.
Students should advise us if they are having difficulty in making travel arrangements.
We look forward to welcoming students and their families and friends to campus as travel permits. If you will be delayed beyond Sunday, please contact the residence office to let us know. Have a safe trip.
