The National Research Council of Canada produces this database and it provides access to the catalogue of CISTI (Canadian Institute for Scientific and Technical Information) as well as article citations and table of contents from 17,000 different journals worldwide in all subject areas. Abstracts are also available for some 2,000 of those titles in the life sciences.

The Canadian NewsDisc CD-ROM includes the full text of every article, column and feature published by major Canadian daily newspapers. It also includes verbatim transcripts of national daily news broadcasts and selected current affairs programs from CBC and CTV.
The database does not contain cartoons/caricatures, photos and other illustrations, graphs and statistical tables, classified ads, advertisements, nominations or stock market reports.

The Globe and Mail on CD-ROM provides "coast-to-coast" coverage of Canadian news. It includes full-text information on topics such as Canadian politics, economy, arts, science, sports, etc.
The database contains feature articles, editorials, letters to the editor, regular columns, textual information accompanying illustrations, and "news in brief" items. It does not include illustrations, graphs and tables, classified ads and advertisements, horoscopes, weather reports, most obituaries, events calendars, or public notices.
